Join us at Dickens. Order yourself a drink or two (and you can order yourself dinner) while you sit back and listen to us talk nerdy to you. Dickens allows our patrons to order food from their full menu, and of course, the full bar. Street parking is available in the area (free after 6pm) as well as pay lots nearby. Dickens is also located two blocks from the downtown West-Kerby C-train station.

Title: Green Chemistry: In Defense of Chemists
Presenter: Dr. Dylan Webb (He/Him), Department of Chemistry & Physics, Mount Royal University
Talk teaser: There has been a massive push to become more “green” in the field of chemistry and the implementation of green chemistry principles into teaching and research is far more prevalent – all for the better. In terms of green chemistry, chemists and their practices are not innocent and we have some explaining to do.
About: Dr. Dylan Webb sounds funny, that’s because he is a Kiwi (not the fruit or the bird). As an assistant professor at MRU, Dylan teaches a variety of things; ranging from inorganic chemistry, organometallics, and natural products, to science communication and research methods.

Title: PONI Express: Building Canada Act demystified
Presenter: Donna Venzi (She/Her), Regulatory Specialist
Talk teaser: How are major projects developed in Canada? What do changes proposed under the Building Canada Act entail? And, what does this mean for us?
About: Donna Venzi is an impact assessment practitioner and regulatory compliance consultant at BBA Consultants with 15+ years working in natural resources and power systems. As a child, she wanted to write fantasy novels about galactic empires. Now she writes epic project applications the government believes so much they issue approvals to make them into reality.

Presenter: Adam Hemeniuk, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Mount Royal University
Talk teaser: Math is about patterns, but what happens when seemingly nice patterns suddenly break? Does the universe have a sense of humour about this?
About: Adam teaches math and does math research at Mount Royal University, and is a volunteer with the Prison Mathematics Project. (Also pictured: Francesca.)
