Join us at Dickens. Order yourself a drink or two (and you can order yourself dinner) while you sit back and listen to us talk nerdy to you. Dickens allows our patrons to order food from their full menu, and of course, the full bar. Street parking is available in the area (free after 6pm) as well as pay lots nearby. Dickens is also located two blocks from the downtown West-Kerby C-train station.

About: Peter is a practicing lawyer in criminal and family law. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick. He emphasizes dispute resolution and human aspects of litigation. He has lived in both Africa and Asia.

Title: Standing on the shoulders of giants
Presenter: Giselle Lin, Materials Scientist / Chemist & Communications Advisor at University of Calgary
Talk teaser: Who gets to define what “belonging” means within science and academia, and what stories are cut from the bigger picture?

About: Giselle is a science communicator at the University of Calgary. Their background is as a research scientist and chemist.

Title: Pressure Switch WIP (sic.)
Presenter: Guy Obrecht (he/him) Ph.D.
Talk teaser: This talk will walk through how a pressure switch can act as the foundational source of a sonic-performance ecosystem. If all wires connect, the description of the elements will be followed by a demonstration of the switch in action.

About: Guy is a musicologist who dabbles in composition and performance. He teaches history and aesthetics of music at Mount Royal University in the Department of General Education.
